Diplomatic Immunity

audioboek

Anna and the French Kiss meets The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks in a romantic and hilarious new novel from Brodi Ashton, the author of the Everneath trilogy.

Raucous parties, privileged attitudes, underage drinking, and diplomatic immunity . . . itā€™s all part of student life on Embassy Row.

Piper Baird has always dreamed of becoming a journalist. So when she scores a scholarship to exclusive Chiswick Academy in Washington, DC, she knows itā€™s her big opportunity. Chiswick offers the most competitive prize for teen journalistsā€”the Bennington scholarshipā€”which would ensure her acceptance to one of the best schools in the country.

Piper isnā€™t at Chiswick for two days before she witnesses the extreme privilege of the young and wealthy elite who attend her schoolā€”and realizes that access to these untouchable students just might give her the edge sheā€™ll need to blow the lid off life at the school in a scathing and unforgettable exposĆ© worthy of the Bennington.

The key to the whole story lies with Rafael Amador, the son of the Spanish Ambassadorā€”and the boy at the center of the most explosive secrets and scandals on Embassy Row. Rafael is big troubleā€”and when he drops into her bedroom window one night, asking for help, itā€™s Piperā€™s big chance to get the full scoop. Except Piper discovers that despite his dark streak, Rafael is smart, kind, funny, and gorgeousā€”and she might have real feelings for him. How can she break the story of a lifetime if it will destroy the boy she just might love?

This was such a sweet funny novel. It gave off The Big A meets legally blonde-esque vibes to me. A strong protagonist who provides all the comic relief which is refreshing. She grew up taking criticism and learned her lesson well and believably. Ive been so sick of reading books where the heroine is so annoying you wish you knew what the author was in her right mind. It makes me begrudgingly read the entire Sometimes series just to see if she grows along the way. Spoiler alert 80% of the time she doesn't and the entire secondary characters along with the love interests ars head over heels fof a girl with absolutely no good qualities. This story wasn't by all means unique but it was predictive in a well-structured on your toes expectant way and I'd take a funny lol lol-type quirky ā€œjournalistā€ in place of a whiny self self-victimized vampire hybrid any day.. I highly recommend to all who just wanna lay back and listen to an extremely talented narrator read a light book with guaranteed lol moments
